Mastercraft UK Kneeboard Tour

National Finals

12/13th September

This time the hoist was the spectacular Humber Bridge Waterski club. Being the national finals the event was held over two days with the best of the competitor’s scores over the two days being taken for the final scores.

The top spot was again hotly contested with just seven points separating the top two. But it was “Iron Man” Ryan Davies who came out top with Jas “The Ace” Ellis in second spot.

The grand finally was the flip out with the past master of Ian Wilkinson coming out of retirement to try and claim his crown back from his now not so young apprentice Ian “Iron Man2 Maund. Time and lack of competition had taken its toil and Ian took the title with 9 flips to Ian’s 8. A personnel best was achieved by Steve Cranie who always enters this event and never manages more than one flip with an all time record of 3.

Rachel Clarke retained her title in Division One with Tom Bromhead taking the title in Division Two; Daniel Lewis took the top spot in Junior One as expected. Daniel has had little or no competition this year and is looking forward to moving up a division next year.

Daniel had agreed to step down a level having performed a kneeboard demonstration the week before at the Cutting Edge competition along side Jodi Fisher and Matt Crowhurst. Interviewed afterwards he said he didn’t mind lowering his game to ski with amateurs. Daniel was last seen floating face down in the Humber having been thrown in by his Dad and his Uncle who both compete in the Premier Division.

Katie Tansley took top honours in the rookies followed by Jason Stocking and Hannah Waring.

The chief judge’s award went to a well deserved and a great all round competitor and one of the awesome River Rats Kev Coe. The award being presented by the Chairman of British Kneeboard Mark Garnett.

Comparing the vent was Simon Waring of Wake and Ski boat who along with Steve and Lesley from Preston Dock provided the evening’s entertainment as the all concurring X Stars.

A big thanks must also go to Andy Scouthern a professional photographer who just happened to be on holiday and came along for a look. On the Saturday he spent eight hours baking in the sun on top of the jump ramp and on Sunday did the same again freezing to death. Well done Andy and many thanks have a look at www.andyscothernphotography.co.uk follow the links to Kneeboard National.

Any event like this needs the help of the hosting club and Humberbridge do know how to party the pie and peas at Midnight went down a storm with those who stayed up. [I am old] Nice one Vikki.

On behalf of the kneeboard committee many thanks to all who helped this year and we look forward to a good season in 2010 when we will be visiting the USA to compete against the US, Australia and potentially Canada in the bi annual Rider Cup competition. The trophy is ours at the moment and no one is going to take it away.

Sponsorship for this event is desperately needed and we would welcome any support and assistance.
