
Spiked X in the City (XTC), the innovative new urban action sports event coming to the heart of London this October, is excited to announce its partnership with Streets United.
One of the main zones at the event will be ‘Freestyle’, and with Streets United being recognised as the global resource base and meeting point for street sports, arts and music it could not be more perfect.
The mission of both Spiked X in the City and Streets United is to make a difference by inspiring and engaging people, break down social barriers, increase participation in sport and promote active, healthy life styles.
You will be able to watch spectacular short performances by the world’s best individual and team freestylers, demos and displays of new street sports and urban arts, world record attempts as well as get involved, learn new skills and go away feeling inspired.
Sports to participate in and workshops taught by the world’s top street sports and urban artists include Freestyle Basketball, Beatboxers, Breakdancers, Double Dutch artists, Freestyle Football, Free Runners & Parkour artists, Graffiti artists, Haki Sakers, Martial Artists, Pogo stick Freestylers, Power Risers, Street Dancer crews and individuals, Trial Riders, Extreme Unicyclists, Urban Slackliners, Yoyo Freestylers as well as DJ's & Mc's.
Some of the performers confirmed by Streets United so far are 5 times world football freestyle record holder Dan Magness, street acrobat Chase Armitage, world renowned breakdancer Tim Hamilton, Radio 1’s Extra DJ L Double, power riser Ian Jaimeson, pogo and power riser artist Wacky Chad and Bourne Ultimatum actor & martial artist Joey Ansah.
20 leading urban, action and extreme sports associations also support and will be at Spiked X in the City, including the British Elastic Rope Sports Association, the Jetski Racing Association, the UK Gravity Sports Association, the UK Freestyle Skaters Association, UK Ultimate, the International Mountain Biking Association, Uniwake, the All Terrain Boarding Association, Parkour UK, the UK Slalom Skateboard Association and the British Snowboard Association.
Set to be Europe’s biggest and most interactive urban action sports event ever, Spiked X in the City will be held at the weather proof ExCel centre in the heart of London’s docklands over half term from 22-24 October 2010.
