SPIKED ATHLETE MGT ANNOUNCE NEW ONE PUNCH FIGHT TEAM
Over the past couple of months Spiked have been working with Brad Pickett, who is one of the greatest British fighters to ever fight in the UFC.
This is the official announcement regarding the new structure of the team and the way forward for 2012.
Matt Walton says:
Firstly it’s been a great pleasure to work with Brad over the past couple of months. Before we took on managing Brad, I actually invested financially in Brad.
As a company we sponsored Ducati Superbikes riders, BMX riders, Skateboarders, Wakeboarders etc and Brad was the only MMA Fighter we invested money in.
So commercially I honestly believe from a brand perspective Brad is the most commercial MMA asset within the business. I believe he is the fans favourite and peoples champion, much like Roberto Duran, Nigel Benn and Barry McGuigan to name a few.
Technically I think Brad is the most naturally gifted fighter in the world, so the big question really is how have we got involved.
We are actually broke down the approach into 2 unique sections, Commercial and Coaching. This was delivered through a commercial and coaching strategy that enabled all team members to be aligned.
There is a lot of commercial stuff we are going through, which I am not going to go through at this stage, but it is exciting and it will probably set up Brad as a business for life.
From a coaching perspective the key thing for me was creating an elite coaching team that were all driven to the same end goal, all communicating regularly and all clear on how to get the best out of Brad Pickett. The key role was having a team manager that pulled the team together and identified how to get all coaches to work together and not be just coaching for coaching sake. This role was also key in liasing with the Head Coach from ATT, so we have an all encompassing strategy.
For me the top coaches are not only technically capable, but they are fantastic communicators, are flexible to change, are focused on a clear set of team goals and are role models and sportsmen that can not only be a solid foundation for the fighter, but also represent MMA as an incredible sport that brings with it great personal qualities.
I believe the team we have put together are some of the best coaches and all with great role model attributes.
At the end of the day, it is about getting a result, so we will now have to see. However I do believe from a planning and coaching perspective we have a very good shape. I am in regular talks with ATT, so we are confident that our preparation in the UK is the best it can be.

With the new structure and team I now have in the UK, I believe it is going to set a very solid foundation for when I go to ATT.
The approach is a much more professional approach in my training. I feel much more of an athlete all year round and I feel very very focused.
I am really excited about fighting Damaccio Page and I am very confident that I have the best coaches in the UK and the USA helping, supporting and advising me.
I hope to see you all in Sweden. Thanks very much for the support, it really means a lot.
