The best way to learn is to go out and skate! It's as simple as that.
The learning curve for skating is steepest right at the start. It's a colossal step to get those basics down.
Skating is all about balance and control so these are the things you need to become best friends with.
Confidence in the basics is so useful. Don't just do a kick turn or pivot. Do a confident kick turn or pivot.
They sound the same but will look totally different. The basics should flow from your feet as if second
nature...maybe even first nature!
It's this confidence that will help you develop better and bigger tricks more easily and quicker.
Nothing is easy in skateboarding. Nothing will come first go, in fact, it's pretty common for tricks to
take months to crack and maybe even a year to perfect. So don't get down on yourself if things take ages
and your technique doesn't improve quite as fast as you'd like. We all want to be the next up and coming
pro and it will happen if you give it time and your dedication.
Just keep skating, challenging yourself and maintain a positive and active attitude towards all aspects of life.
P.S - Rest when your injured. It's going to happen. Tweaked ankles, gnarly bruises and cuts, maybe a fracture
or more. Rest up. All the pro's do and that's cos they know the importance of getting better before heading
back out on the circuit. It's not easy watching your friends skate a sunny day but you'll appreciate it in the
long run.
